These two materials share similarities due to their distinctive sheen. We won’t lie — sleeping on a polyester pillowcase will still provide more benefits than sleeping on a cotton one. But can those benefits outweigh comfort?
Polyester absorbs significantly less moisture than cotton, meaning it won’t draw moisture from your face and hair, but the synthetic material is completely non-breathable and tends to wrinkle. So while you might tolerate sleeping on a polyester–cotton pillowcase, sleeping under a polyester bedding set — especially in summer — can become a real discomfort. Your skin will sweat, the fabric won’t breathe, and comfort will be greatly reduced.
Is it possible to blend polyester with silk? At first glance, yes — but upon closer inspection, the differences become obvious. The higher the quality of the silk, the more lustre you will see. Not shine — shine is characteristic of polyester, whereas silk glows. Natural silk is far more expensive than polyester because it is a natural material.
